  • Carl Penney

    General Manager and Head Coach

Carl Penney says “I love that I get to coach such a hardworking and fun group of people. Not only are our members putting in tons of effort to reach their goals, but we have a lot of fun on the way.”

Carl spend 10 years playing competitive roller hockey and skateboarding before turning his attention to weight training and eventually CrossFit. Today he specializes in Olympic weightlifting and helping people reach their goals. “I always knew my purpose was to help others,” he says. “I realized that running a successful gym broadens the impact I can make to more people as clients but also provides greater opportunities for coaches wanting to make their impact.”

His favorite quote is “Great works are performed not by strength, but by perseverance.” – Samuel Johnson

  • Noah Johnson

Noah Johnson says the thing he loves most about coaching is the personal relationships between the members and staff at El Cid that “makes us who we are – The El Cid CrossFit Family!”

Noah is ALMOST done with his bachelor’s degree in Human Sport and Performance from Palm Beach Atlantic University – he graduates in May 2017. He’s always been into fitness, starting his journey “in the stereotypical globo-gym wearing string tanks tops and carrying around a gallon of water.” He got tired of the same old thing and found CrossFit – which was an immediate addiction.

Noah is an easy going guy with a great sense of humor. He also likes pina coladas and getting caught in the rain.
